Applique 25 vue par Herah

Applique 25 as seen by Herah

When we discussed a collaboration with Herah, we wanted to push the designer-manufacturer duo to the limit so we offered them a challenge: to create a light fixture that would bring together the best of their practices. And since these two boys enjoy nothing more than to roll up their sleeves, we are pleased to present Applique 25.

The name of this light fixture reflects its technical nature, bringing together for the first time Herah’s two exceptional skills: its mastery of molded concrete combined with its jewelry expertise with metal and stone. But when craft technique is pushed to such a level of sophistication, it is because there is love. Love for both the materials and the gestures that shape them. The love that Louis and Quentin have for the objects that they meticulously create in their Picardy workshop, which we present to you in this issue. And when there is love for an object, poetry is not far away. The one that emanates from this lightweight and fragile sphere placed on a solid concrete monolith in the shape of an inverted drop. Applique 25 combines, in a subtle balancing act, opposing dimensions that are reconciled in a refined interior object: the rough and the delicate, the immaculate white of the concrete and the deep blue of the lapis lazuli, the fluted edge and the smooth face, a construction technique and a jewelry signature. From the clash of opposites comes energy. The energy of a luminous design piece that will bring character to the room where it is placed whether in solo, duo or even more.

A detail: the light bulb used in Applique 25 is dimmable and allows for a variable light creating a subdued and muffled atmosphere. Technology and poetry.
